La Casa en el Cielo, which translates to ‘The House in the Sky’, is a family-owned venture that seeks to create a holistic, wellness experience to its costumers around coffee – from harvest and collection, to being roasted, served and enjoyed within a harmonious and pleasant space. The project is designed to grow gradually in this family home, opening new spaces and services to the community over time. The starting point of the project is this coffee house.

This project occupies a special place within our portfolio. We worked hand in hand with the family members to come up with a proposal that, beyond matching their vision, was low cost and straight forward so that they could self-build and manufacture each element and detail of the space; from the wood paneling on the walls, to the benches and lamps. The contribution of each family member generated an important added value to the project. Each element was produced with care, and every detail tells a story, creating a space full of character and charisma.

Using materials from the heritage of Colombia’s coffee regions, such as natural woods, handmade clay veneers, palm leaf mats and raw materials such as cast concrete and flamed granite, a discreet yet vernacular language is forged, inviting costumers to enter and enjoy long afternoons while making them feel at home.
